Parish of the
Good Shepherd, Woodthorpe
with
St Anthony's of Calverton
NAME OF SERVICE: St Vincent De Paul Society (SVP)

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICE:

The SVP Society works under the patronage of St Vincent de Paul to help those in need. Members of the Society seek and find those suffering under any economic hardship. Help is provided in a caring, considerate and confidential manner.

WHERE/WHEN?

The Society's overall aim is to tackle poverty and social isolation in all its forms, through the provision of practical assistance to those in need.

Members (always in pairs) visit people in their homes, nursing homes and other locations as identified. We offer friendship and practical help to all we visit, without regard to faith, ethnicity, status or sexual orientation. As we visit people in their homes we have strict safeguarding policies and procedures and all visiting members must hold a DBS certificate.

Meetings of the Society are held every two weeks in the parish centre.

HOW CAN I BE INVOLVED?

Membership of the Society is open to all who wish to practice their faith in working for the welfare of others. If you are interested in joining the Society please in the first instance contact the parish contact, Anne Bruccoleri (details below).

HOW CAN I GET HELP FROM THE SERVICE?

If you need help from the SVP please contact the Society through the parish administration suite (details below) providing your contact details (including your telephone number); you will then be contacted by a member of the Society regarding a home visit to discuss your circumstances. Assistance is given irrespective of race, colour or creed. All information is treated in a completely confidential manner by the Society's members.
